This Privacy Policy explains how MurMur AI (“MurMur”, “we”, “our” or “us”) collects, uses, stores and discloses information when you use our AI interview assistant service at murmur-ai.com and app.murmur-ai.com (“Service”). MurMur is operated by a sole proprietor in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree that your personal information will be handled as described in this Policy.
Data We Collect
We collect only the information needed to operate and improve the Service:
Information you provide
Account details – When you register, we ask for an email address and password. You may provide your name or contact details so we can communicate about your account and purchases.
Payment information – If you purchase credit packs, our payment processor collects your billing details. We do not see or store full payment card numbers. Payments are handled by secure, third-party providers.
Interview content and hints – During live interviews, MurMur processes audio in real time to generate helpful suggestions. Audio is securely transmitted to trusted third-party providers for transcription and hint generation. MurMur does not record or store raw audio. Transcribed text may be retained temporarily to improve our models, support future sessions, or help resolve user support inquiries. We do not use this content for unrelated purposes or share it beyond our processing providers.
Information collected automatically
Usage and device data – We automatically collect log data such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, and timestamps. We use cookies or local storage to authenticate you and remember preferences. Analytics platforms help us understand how users navigate our site and improve performance.
User experience recording – We use tools like LogRocket to record click events, page views, and interactions on our web app. These recordings do not capture interview audio or video and are used solely for quality assurance, debugging, and improving usability.
How We Use Information
Provide the Service – Process your registration, authenticate sessions, deliver real-time hints, manage your credits, and communicate with you about your account.
Service improvement and analytics – Analyze usage and feedback to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
Customer support – Respond to questions and resolve support requests.
Legal compliance and protection – Protect our rights and comply with legal obligations. We may disclose information if required by law or court order.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers. We only share information with trusted third parties that help us deliver the Service (e.g., transcription providers, payment processors, analytics and user-experience tools).
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, remembering preferences, and analytics. You may refuse non-essential cookies by adjusting your browser or cookie banner preferences, though some features may not work properly if you do.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account information as long as your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes. Session metadata and anonymized or aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely to improve the Service. We automatically delete inactive accounts and associated data after 18 months of inactivity unless required to keep it longer by law. You may delete your account at any time via the account settings; we will delete your personal information (including any stored metadata or transcripts) within 30 days except for records we are legally required to keep.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Our third-party providers maintain industry-standard security controls where applicable.
Your Rights and Choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, subject to our operational and legal constraints.
User Consent and Responsibility
You are responsible for obtaining any required consent from interview participants before using the Service, especially in jurisdictions where all-party consent is required for audio processing or transcription.
Children’s Privacy
MurMur is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the Service or by email if feasible. Your continued use after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
